Titanium Grade 5

Common Trade Names:  6-4 Titanium, 6-4, Ti 6-4; Titanium Grade 5; Titanium 6AL4V

Ti-6Al-4V, Titanium Grade 5 alloy (UNSR56400) is the most widely used titanium grade. It is a two phase α+βtitanium alloy, with aluminum as the alpha stabilizer and vanadium asthe beta stabilizer. This high-strength alloy can be used at cryogenictemperatures to about 800°F (427°C). Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is used inthe annealed condition and in the solution treated and aged condition. Some applications include: compressor blades, discs, and rings for jetengines; airframe and space capsule components; pressure vessels; rocketengine cases; helicopter rotor hubs; fasteners; critical forgingsrequiring high strength-to-weight ratios.

This alloy is produced by primarymelting using vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearthmelting (PAM). Remelting is achieved by one or two vacuum arc steps.

Available Product Forms:

Pipe, tube, sheet, strip, plate, round bar, flat bar, forging stock, hexagon and wire.
